After a Stormy Night
The news today is full of storm- and flood-related disasters. Stormy seas have washed away a part of the structure supporting the railway line in Dawlish, and the Somerset levels continue to take the brunt of the flooding. Closer to home, trees have fallen and are blocking roads and there are about 1,300 homes without power.
West Coast View
Living where we do on the Welsh coast, we have a rather good view of the sea, and get some rather spectacular sunrises, sunsets and seascapes in general. The trouble is, when you see it every day, and wake up to the view every most mornings, it’s easy to get a bit blasé and take it for granted. This morning, as the car got doused by yet another storm wave crashing over the sea wall as I drove past the seafront, it came to me that it might be sort of interesting (for me anyway, if not for anyone else) to keep a record of what it’s like to live and work in a remote-ish part of the country, about five minutes’ walk down the hill to the sea.

A Dynamic Era …
We were still fairly young when David thought we might be on to something with property. By young, I mean late 20’s (me), early 30’s (him), certainly younger than we are now and young enough for any action we might have taken to have a major impact on our future.
An Unexpected Success
It is around this time of year, i.e. early January, that many review their experiences, successes and not-quite-successes of the previous year and plan for the forthcoming year. In fact there are countless magazines, blogs, newsletters, Facebook links and so on that encourage … nay, exhort us to do so.
